"I'm Not Dead Yet."

Interesting.

D Po, have you noticed the silence? Every SEC turd and ex Jock talking head is all bla bla bla Urban is dead, he's done, never coach again, suicide watch, etc.
You can bet your maize and blue ass that every motherfucker sports journalist in America is getting acute carpal tunnel symptoms and severe, severe neck pain scrolling and digging and chasing every possible lead they can find about Urban Meyer, Horrible Man, Worse Than Stalin, BAD GUY.

Yet.

Nothing. No new facts. Other than that Courtney Smith is quite a drunk. That she was picked up on 3 (count them, three) DUIs and let go with the cops walking her home and each time she sobbed and wailed that Zach Smith, also quite a drunk, was chasing her. Except that he was at practice. I wonder why funny little Hitler Moustache Journalist ESPN Fired Toady Ass BITCH Bert McMurphy didn't include that in his interview? Or maybe he could have mentioned that she called the Powell Police Dept. on the 911 line 66 times in 90 days on domestic disputes, so many calls, DPo. Can you blame the PoPo for eventually not sending units to her address when she called?

There's more.  But it can wait.

That stony silence you hear from TOSU is the sound of a University silent screaming in pain. First the goddamn diving coach banging a 16 year old diver. Then Dr. Jelly Paws (this is actually what the wrestlers called him) fondling the balls and bungholes of hundreds of wrestlers who were complaining of things like headaches and nose pain. (He told them that they had "lymph nodes in their testicles and (he) had to check them." Seriously. There are no lymph nodes in your testicles, for the record. Well, maybe your testicles, Drew. But not on normal guys.)
Now crazy ass Courtney.

TOSU, it's pretty safe to say, did not have something on Urban Meyer that would justify firing him for cause. They would have done so already just because of the terrible optics of this situation. But if they can't show cause and they part ways with him anyway they owe him, oh, let's say, about 40 million dollars. That's a lot of money when every wrestler who ever donned a onesy for Ohio State is about to sue your ass.
So the Board of Trustees is going to make this call. Nobody else.  Not some schlub SEC chump on ESPN. Not Bart McMoron. Not some hopes-up-high scUM fan. The BoT. Because we are talking about contracts and cash. I see a three or four game suspension, just for the PC optics problem, but Urban Meyer keeps the job. The BoT is digging just as hard as Fred McMurray is right now to find a way to keep him.

Warmest regards,

Time To Move On In Columbus

Excellent post DPo.

While it's possible that Urbs will return to the OSU sideline I think he's done. The Ohio State Athletic Dept has made a total mess out of what is basically a pretty straight forward issue. Domestic violence is not supposed to be tolerated. Meyer himself had the practice facility festooned with banners and signs saying things like Respect Women and It's Not Alright To Throw Pregnant Women Into Walls and stuff like that. He has shit canned several players who were charged with domestic violence against girlfriends ( though, truth be told, he was probably more interested in getting down to that magic scholarship number.)
In any event.
I don't buy the whole "he's Earle Bruce's grandson" gambit either. Earle was ramping up his dementia when Urbs came to Ohio State so I'm not even sure if coach Bruce could even recognize his grandson.
And it wasn't like Zach Smith was a good receiver coach. He wasn't. Urban Meyer himself referred to the receiving corps as a "clown show" before the 2015 season.
So, why did Urbs lug this perpetually drunk, wife terrorizing, fat, bald shitty receiver coach from Florida to Columbus AND keep him on the staff after he knew the guy's marriage was imploding and that he was knocking his wife around? And, yes, of course he fucking knew. There may not be direct evidence but, come on. All the wives are texting about Courtney calling the cops, Courtney getting stalked, Courtney getting yanked around and Urban Meyer doesn't know about it? I'll come back to the Zach Smith, horrible employee question.

So many fuck ups here. The first time he hears about this, Meyer goes to Gene Smith, the AD, drops the news on him and says, "oh, by the way, I fired his ass." That should have been it. Or, when they ask Meyer at the BIG media days about the 2015 incident, he says "no comment but we are investigating it". Instead he asks the reporter why he his making things up. Huh? And finally, is it paid administrative leave or unpaid? Paid makes Ohio State look bad. Because this issue is not going away and Urban Meyer is not going to coach again at Ohio State.

The answer to why Zach Smith was kept around is, Zach Smith was tolerated and covered up for and made excuses for because he was the RECRUITING COORDINATOR. And he was a good one. Ohio State is an NFL football factory for crying out loud. Just look at the talent out there. But, wait now, Zach Smith is a total douche. Does he just have an incredible knack for wooing teenagers to Columbus? Or does he have a few tricks up his sleeve that are not completely, oh, let's say "wholesome"?

This is why Ohio State needs to get its shit together TODAY. There is nothing to investigate. Zach Smith is gone. His ex-wife has told her story and it's an ugly one. Maybe TOSU can find some weasel room to keep Urban Meyer but the shit smell will remain. That's recruiting poison. Ohio State needs to take the high road (even though everyone will know it's bullshit and too little too late) and move on from Meyer. Make Ryan Day the head coach. Don't expect to win every game for a year or two. But put this whole mess in the rear view mirror before you invite any more scrutiny because the wolves are out in Columbus and they smell blood.

Urban Meyer is a dead man walking.

Being an apologist is unbecoming of the commish.

College football is cyclical, and within those cycles are dramatic ups and downs from year to year. Sure you can put together a great season followed by another one or two, but there is inevitable decline, a reloading, rebuilding, as it were. Unless you are dirty. We'll come back to that.

It's like the Tour de France. Sure somebody has to win the stage but if you are a guy who is tearing up the Alps one day, the human body needs a day or two to recover so you are off the back on the next day. Day after day at the front of the field is humanly impossible. Unless you are dirty.

Institutions of higher learning are not fond of having their employees kick the shit out of pregnant women. Repeatedly. And they put in place rules to out the shit stains that allow those dickless cunts to continue to throw their wives around. So why risk careers keeping Zach Smith on staff when he is the shittiest coach on one of the best teams in Big 10 history? The Earl Bruce's grandson schtick is a smoke screen. Don't believe that loyalty bullshit. This is a profession that fires their own children or best friends for one blown call despite thousands of right ones.

Nope. To paraphrase the Zachster, "If they try to fire me, I'm bringing them all down." Now, what kinda shit does he have on Urbs and the staff that would allow him to keep his job while smacking around his preggo wife while their three year old daughter clings to her leg??? Certainly not the ol' "the whole staff knew, it's an open secret" thing. That is weak sauce, amigos.

Nope. Zach knows how dirty Ohio State is that allows them to stockpile recruits there in ... Columbus. Seriously? People with free will choose to go to Columbus? I doubt it. The shit is deep and it goes beyond free tattoos and car leases.

Now the Commish will paint Urban Meyer as the victim, but don't you believe him. Just look at the 8x10 Urban headshot on the Commish's nightstand next to his bottle of lotion and tissues. Despite Jimbosuke's man-boy lust for Urbs, he knows what is at the core of the man he worships. Look at the trail of criminals he protected in Gatorland or the co-eds he diddled, the murders he covered up.

The reign has ended. And the scab that is Columbus will be peeled back exposing the maggot filled pus ball that is THE Ohio State football cofefe.

Players Be Wakin' Up

Yes, Players are waking up. Josh Perry, he of the 2014 Nat'l Champ Bucks, had a brief, journeyman career in the NFL. And today, God bless him, he said, "Fuck this Shield" (or something to that effect) and bowed out after his  most recent concussion. Notice he says "my sixth documented concussion" (emphasis added). I was scrolling through a bunch of pictures and there were 4 or 5 random shots where his head was the first thing meeting some other poor sods head, including a vicious banger v Meechy in Ann Arbor.

So, a journeyman career. The Chargers. The Colts who suck. The Seahawks, also sucking. Notice also he said "a paycheck". Not a big paycheck. His last contract, this year's, with the SeaDogs was a 1 yr, non guaranteed number worth $630,000. Guess how much he gets now?
Correct.
Stugots.

Mr. Perry was a 4th round, 102nd pick overall to the San Diego Chargers for 2.95 million over 4 years. Everybody who gets drafted gets 4 years unless you go in the 1st round where you can negotiate an optional 5th year.
Wait, aren't the Chargers in LA now? Who cares. Fuck the NFL. Back to my topic.
630 grand looks like a lot of money doesn't it? Well, at least it used to until the last election. But, again, I digress. Seems like a lot of money.

Enter the perversion of the NFL rookie salary agreement, inked by the NFLPA and the NFL Owners (like Jerry Jones who is actually not a man but rather a unique and gifted lizard who has taught himself how to walk on two legs, speak English sort of and hoodwink taxpayers into building giant stadiums.) This sick fucking document was agreed to during the 2011 NFL lock out and saved the owners a ridiculous amount of money to add to the shitload of money they already had.

According to the rookie agreement every player drafted gets a four year contract, as mentioned. But, and this is where the owners start banking the green, the lower down in the draft you go the less you get (the average this year is 488K) and the less money that is guaranteed.
Therefore, very little of J. Perry's San Diego/LA/Who Gives a Shit contract would have been guaranteed such that when the Chargers released his ass after the 2016 season guess who really didn't see much of that 2.95 million?
Josh Perry.
I don't know how much the half-ass Colts paid him when he signed with them in 2017 but zero of that salary would have been guaranteed.
Which is to say if you're in the Pros, enriching Lizard Man or some other asshole, and your contract money is not guaranteed, where is the incentive to report a concussion or any other injury? Just keep playing until your brain dribbles out your nose.

Did I  mention that an NFL player's salary is taxed (at the federal level) at about 40% because their jobs are considered, basically, entertainment? Have you ever heard of the Jock Tax? What do you think Robert Fucking Kraft, worth 3.4 billion, wearing that damn blue shirt with the white collar every Sunday, pays every year in taxes? That is, if he pays taxes at all, which is highly doubtful.

Please join me in congratulating Joshua Perry on his telling the NFL to take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut.

And, to take it one step further, thanks, Josh, for once again raising the question, albeit indirectly, of who exactly needs the NFL anyway? The real money is in the College Game. And there are no owners. There are Boards of Trustees who will eventually call out a sick bastard coach if he goes all Mike Leach and makes a kid stand in a shed for hours because he sustained a concussion.

So why don't we just give the boys their scholarships and pay them a nice wage and let Woody/Chris Johnson (NY Jets who are really in NJ) go back to selling Kotex and bandaids and doing other shit that he might have a gift for?
Like being the new United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom. Don't even fucking get me started.

Keeping it Hornsby

Step into the harsh light of the 2018 Jamar Hornsby competition, Mr. Smith.

I guess it's more frustrating than I thought being Urban Meyer's wide receiver coach (AND head of recruiting). Okay, yes, it rankles when you have sub-4.4 receivers all over the field who also deliver crushing blocks and your Head Man wants to run his QB on third down all the time.
And, sure, it might cause a man to take a drink now and then when, on those somewhat rare occasions when your HC decides to air it out, that same QB delivers a Moon-Shot or a turf skipper or a nifty toss to The Buckeye Guy in row 7.
I understand that sucking up to 16 year old jocks on Twitter all the live long day might get old and maybe even drive a man to try to shore up his ego with a little extramarital hide the sausage with a co-worker (though the co-worker thing, Zach. Really?).

But did you have to bring the side-piece coworker home? To sleep over? And call her "baby"? While your wife, who actually has had a couple of your babies and had another one in the oven actually, three months cooked, was HOME?
Okay, maybe some wives wouldn't object to a shit-faced football coach husband pulling in late with one of the staff. That he is probably banging. And there may even be a few that would have put up with the sleep-over "baby"scenario. At least she would know where he was. But to get yanked by your night shirt and tossed into a wall when you're heading into your second trimester and you've just driven some skank-ass Ho home because your husband was too plastered to drive?

No.

That's a beer too far, Mr. Smith.
That's going to get you dimed out to the law on a 9-1-1 call every time.

Be a man, Bro. Sleep on the floor in the garage and take your lumps. Don't go off, physically, on your wife, because she kind of objects to your beer stinking, some-other-bimbo's perfume reeking ass sleeping it off in the same bed with her.
That one is going to come back and bite you in that ass, and it did.
Bad news; you're out of a job and kind of radioactive on the new-job trail.
Good news; you're out front in the Jamar Hornsby sweepstakes.

Finally, take a good look at this guy. Who does he look like?
Right.
Earle Bruce, former TOSU head coach who died this year. He is Earl Bruce's grandson. Urbs and Coach Bruce were very tight. Especially tight when Earl was demented and had no fucking clue who Urbs was.
Which must have made it hard for the Meyermeister to shit-can Wife-Beater-Boy. But maybe Coach Meyer has learned a thing or two about rogue elements in the wide receiver room since Aaron Hernandez killed some guys and then killed himself in prison. (Though his truly greatest crime was playing for the much hated New England Patriots and their transgender QB). Aaron Hernandez was a Florida Gator product from the Urban Meyer era. Guess who his wide receiver coach was?

Zach Smith.

The Hornsby just got a lot more interesting.

BRFL Jambo Moved To August 11th

Change in plans, Fembots.

The Commissioner must attend a memorial service for a good friend on August 4th. She died in February and her family has apparently never heard of consulting the BRFL front office before scheduling something as marginally important as a memorial service. Thus, using horrible judgement and showing just a shit load of selfishness, they have scheduled the mem service for August 4th.
This pisses all over the Commissioner's carefully laid plans. Not to mention thoroughly boning those of you who moved your schedule around to be in Cooperstown August 4th (not looking at you, Scott).

So, Brohimes and Brobitches, the annual banquet and Commissionerly bloviating as well as the paying out of considerable sums will be moved to August, 11, 6 PM, BRFL World Headquarters, 30 Fair Street.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

Got Wood, Son?

An amazing but misguided athlete sticks  his neck out. The last time somebody from TTUN guaranteed a win against the Buckeyes it was Jim Harbaugh in his senior season as Maize and Blue signal caller. He delivered. Charles, you're no Jim Harbaugh. With respect, a black man channeling the Sweater Vest is not a good look. Burn in hell, Brohime.

Buckeyes uber Alles.

Wasted, barefoot and pissed off in Ann Arbor

This is the kind of shit that makes the off season worth living through. Could have happened anywhere. But pretty sweet that it happened in Ann Arbor. Fergus getting a jump on St. Patty's day celebrating? Don't mess with this dude when he's cranked up. More gory details here, from The Ann Arbor News. Chalk it up to a bad case of  "the Mondays". Stepping into the lead for the Jamar Hornsby Award here in the early going. I doubt he'll keep that JHAward lead though because, technically, he wasn't being a scumbag to anything but a parked car. And a policeman. And a lab tech. As for the DUI, let's not go there. Could have been me doing something this idiotic except I wouldn't be caught dead in a Chevy Tahoe.
So this is where we're at in March in the BRFL. Putting up stories about people's lives being ruined through acts of monumentally bad judgement.
Have a great day!

BRFL 2018, Season 12 - the Payoff

I'm looking at August 11, a Saturday, about 6 PM, 30 Fair Street. The usual set up. Major awards. The coveted Commissioner's Cup. The Liberace. This year a special award for GG, since I won. The Shame Penguin for second to last. The Bruce Pinkernell for last place.
Who's good for this date?

BRFL 2017; Damage Report

And so we come to the end of another season.
The Damage Report was sent to you by email.

It was a long season. We avoided the Mikepocalypse. DPo earns some serious redemption for sparing us that horror. We saw another BRFLer's coach fired, this time KBron's lame Florida head man.

GG was an exciting back and forth contest. Some hard feelings over a couple games that were posted on short notice. The Commissioner was on in-hospital rotation for three weeks over the holidays and had a little trouble keeping up. Still, I think the "three sets of three games" format works for the bowls.
Share thoughts and warm feelings at the payout.

Couple things about the payout.
August seems a busy month and many have been unable to make the Most Sumptuous Feast on Fair Street lately. So I am going to try to move our Love-In up to July. Have to snake it around all the Hall of Fame nonsense that goes on in the summer but shouldn't be too hard.
Regarding GG and Heismaniac we clearly need a Treasurer. BroFro offered to do that a couple years ago and I will revisit that with him. The problem is that there is no BRFL Central Bank. So we start every year with zero funds. This is problematic for GG and Heismaniac. Every year I forget to collect GG and Heismaniac entry fees (because I am extremely intoxicated by that point in the evening). And every year I can't remember who paid and who didn't (because...extremely intoxicated). To make GG work every one has to first put their 20 dollars in the bank. The BRFL front office can't deduct it from their winnings because not everybody wins and not everybody plays these side games. And the BRFL winnings are paid solely from the losses of others.

So we needs us a treasurer to hold onto the dough, perhaps invest it in some scam like Bitcoin and quadruple it. And then pay it out next year.
Also, really, a little disappointed in the Heismaniac participation.

Lots to talk about at the Jambo. But, as usual, I probably won't listen.

Jimbosuke,
Commissioner for Life

This one's for you, KBronie

BRFL 2017: The Final Tally

BRFL End of Season Results:

First to address a question that has come up before; no-drop points after the end of the conference championships. Simply stated, no-drop points don't get awarded unless a NEW AP Poll comes out. Think about why this is. You have dozens of bowl games happening over weeks. You have play off games. And, yes, wins in those games have an effect on the dropping or no-dropping. But how much? Who knows? The AP knows but they ain't sayin' until the last poll. Said Poll which comes out after the National Championship game. So there are no no-drop points awarded after bowl games or after the first round of the playoffs. In fact nothing at all happens after bowl games or the first round, except the lucky BRFLers who win those games bank the points for the wins.

For McLovin this is a crushing blow and a grave disappointment. Sad face. For the rest of us it's why we have been spared The Mikepocalypse; the humiliation of watching the guy who won it last year and picked DEAD LAST in the draft walk away with The Whole Cheese again.

Starting from the bottom:

#15, with unranked Florida, KBronieManWoman hits a serious sophomore slump.
Start with -7, no win, no no-drop, no move up = -7 BRFL

#14, with unranked Meechy, Timmy! The Evil Wolverine Conspiracy drops their bowl game, 19-26 to South Carolina. A promising season ends in disappointment.
Start with -6, no win, no no-drop, no move up = -6 BRFL

#13, unranked Kansas State. Q finishes strong with the bowl win, 35-17 over UCLA. Ends with + 2.
Started at -1, win the bowl that's 3, no no-drop, no move up = 2 total BRFL

#12, 20th ranked Stanford. Chip n' Dale drops the bowl to TCU, 37-39.
Start with 14. No win, no no-drop, AP drops you 5 = 9 BRFL

#11, unranked Utah. Randoogle wins the bowl game, 30-14 over WVU.
Starts at 8, 3 for the win, no no-drop, no move up = 11 BRFL.

#10 16th ranked Washington Huskies. ClemboSlice with another Season of Despair. Fucking Wash U could only beat shitty teams. Sad. Drops the bowl, 28 - 35 to Penn State.
Start with 17, no win, no no-drop,  wrathful AP drops you 4 = 13 BRFL

#9, 12th ranked USC. Bridgshit betrayed by the Curse of Sam Darnold. Drops the bowl to Mighty Ohio State, 7 - 24.
Starts with 19, no win, no-no drop, AP carves you a minus 4 = 15 BRFL.

#8. 24th ranked Virginia Tech. SkHunk gets bent over by the Okie State Cowboys, 21-30 in the bowl.
Starts with 18. No win, no-no drop, AP takes you down two pegs = 16 BRFL total.

#7,  21st ranked USouthFlorida. The Kitten in his debut season goes out with guns blazing. 38-34 over Texas Tech in the bowl.
Starts with 12. 3 for the win, 1 for the no-drop, 2 for the move up = 18 BRFL.

#6, 5th ranked THE Ohio State University. Jimbosuke wins the bowl over USC to close out a powerful end of season run.
Starts with 18. 3 for the win, 1 for the no-drop, naught because I don't move up = 22.

#5, 8th ranked Penn State. Seannie G and the Nittanys drop Wash U 35 - 28 to win their bowl.
Starts with 18. 3 for the win, 1 for the no-drop, moves up 1 place in the Poll = 23 BRFL

#4, Miami, the U. SockPuppet started so strong. Alas. Drops the bowl to Wisco, 24 - 34.
Starts with 27. Naught for the win, naught no-drop, and the AP docs you 2 = 25.
We'll always have The Turn-over Chain.

Here's something that's never happened; a tie for the Liberace.

#3, 22nd ranked Boise State.  BroFro and the Broncos, 38 - 28 they win their bowl over Oregon.
Starts with 19. Adds 3 for the win, 1 for the no-drop, AP moves you up 3 = 26 BRFL.
I'd say The Plan worked, Brohime.

#3, 7th ranked Wisconsin. Snottie's Badgers best Miami 34 - 24 for the bowl win.
Start with 24. 3 for the win, no no-drop because, oddly, the AP drops you 1 in the final poll = 26

I  have no idea how we will resolve this Liberace Cock-block.
And now, what you've all been waiting for:

#2, Number 1 ranked Alabama. McLovin'. Bama cruises through the first round crushing the much reviled gnome-faced, cherubic, troll-man mix Dildo Swinny 24 - 6. Then, a tougher time of it, but still, emerges victorious in the Final with the Hawaiin freshman at the helm finishing off Georgia in OT, 26 -23.
Starts with 16. 7 for the curb-stomp of Clemson, 12 for the win over Georgia, a no-drop and he moves up 3 spots in the final poll, that's 23 in the bowl season alone. Ends with 39.

With that amazing finish I was sure he had enough to put him over the top.
But, no.

#1, 11th ranked Notre Dame. DPo pulls off the win over LSU, 21 -17 in the bowl.
Starts with 33, 3 for the bowl win, 1 for the no-drop and the AP moves the Domers up just enough (3) to put Drewpie into the Winner's Circle with 40 BRFL points.

Congrats to the 'Po. Burn in hell, BungFeather.

More stats and $$ figures forthcoming.

Jimbosuke,

Potentially Shocking BRFL News

Friday, December 15, the post "College Football Playoffs: BRFL Scenarios". I recommend you all take a look at that post, particularly as it pertains to DPo and the Domers closing out the season strong  and earning a significant nut-fondle by the AP.

By my preliminary calculations (and by "preliminary" I mean I have not checked the numbers 5 or 6 times since, if I don't and I get it wrong, you assholes will be all over me like stink) DPo edged McLovin by one point, 40 to 39. McLovin's late season surge fell one point short since he was ranked so high to begin with. While the 'Po chopped his feet hard for extra yardage and churned for that crucial one more BRFL point.

More later.

GG, Chapter 13 Results

GG week 13, the Final Chapter.

(#14) Notre Dame 21, (#16) LSU 17. DPo nails the win.
(#3) Georgia outscores Oklahoma (#2)  54-48 in the second ovetime. Plant the flag in your ass, Baker Mayfield.
(#4) Alabama 24 - 6 over Clemson (#1). Burn in hell, Dabo.

Technically we had $220 in the pot. 11 people played, 20 dollars each. I think a few people paid, you know who you are. The rest of you, I need 20 bucks to balance the books, including my 20.

Seannie G, SWEEPage, 5 to go to 74. Third place. You get your $20 back.
Randoo, 1 to get to 50. Stoogatz.
BroFro, 2 to get to 73. Close but no cigar.
'BoSuke, Hello, Mr. SWEEP. 5 to go to 84. 'BoSuke walks away with the Cheese. Winning! $140. (Net 120)
DPo, BOOM, SWEEP. 5 to go to 63. Too little too late.
Bridgenfraulein, 1 to go to 67.
CCS, throws the no-hitter. Zero. Finish with 67.
McLovin. Chyeah!. SWEEP. 5 to finish with 61.
KBronie, 2 to go to 52.
SockPuppet, tries to break the log-jam. Denied. 1 to go to 75. Second place. $60 (30% after deducting Seannie's 20, Sock you net 40)
Snottie, 2 with the semi-strong finish at 52. Meh.

Congratulations to me.
